Shopping for the Starkeys!

If you have any questions about the items or where to send them, please feel free to email us_ april.starkey@rmibridge.org www.toHaitiwego.com

Hey everyone! From time to time we have people ask us what needs we have, what items we need to bring with us to Haiti etc. We also know that some people would rather buy certain items instead of just giving a certain amount of money. We have made this Amazon wish list up to share of some of the items we will need to get and stock up on as much as we can, to fit in our shipping container before we go. We will need these items before July 13th as that is when Jim drives down all of our stuff.

If you would like to donate any of these items for our journey to Haiti, you can ship them to yourself and then give to us or you can ship them straight to us. Our shipping address is 219 Euclid Avenue Mansfield, OH 44903. We appreciate any and all that will be donated, as it will just help us to have less to worry about getting.

Some of the items we can use multiples of, such as paper napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates, 2 hampers, multiple quality flashlights, our printer ink. The rest of the things we just need 1 quantity. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you so much everyone, you will never know how much it means to us for all the support our friends & family have given.

If I’m honest…

I remember reading a missionary blog at the beginning of our journey, who had shared what they were going to most miss & what they were struggling with giving up. I decided to do this and I actually found it quite helpful & healing just to get it written down. Without a shadow of a doubt, we know God is having us do this, He made it so clear! Without a shadow of a doubt, we WANT to go there and we are VERY ready. However, we are also HUMAN 😉 and we have a lot we are giving up to do this, but we are very willing to do so, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be easy.

So I thought it would be fun to share my list with you. If anything, just so you can get a sense of what we will be going through during the transition and how to pray for us.

Here we go, in NO PARTICULAR ORDER:

  • Grocery selection, pizza delivery, restaurants & fast food for days we don’t want to cook or for special celebrations.
  • Good roads. 2 cars to go where needed whenever we want. Government order/laws. Our van that I’ve grown to love.
  • Church community. Our church sermon/message live in person. Worship. Leading worship with our team at church.
  • FAMILY time with parents/siblings/nephews/nieces.
  • Watching the boys do sports.
  • Air conditioning or cooler weather during certain seasons. Bug-free food. High speed internet. Reliable and clear phone calls.
  • Familiar culture. Reliable electricity. Tarantula free home.
  • Target. Walmart. Hobby Lobby. Kroger. Aldi. Home Depot.
  • Daily mail service. Access to medical care. Movie theater. Limitless entertainment options. Privacy. Everyone speaking my language. Cheap utilities.
  • Homeschooling the boys. Security. Coffee shops.
  • Most of all FAMILY! We are blessed to have such amazing family & friends who we love dearly and will miss dearly.

We gladly give up all these things for Jesus and what He has called us to do…but we are still human…and we know some days it will be hard and it will even hurt. This was more in fun than anything BUT we ask that you truly would pray for us as we do make this transition. That is would go smoother than we think, we would transition well and the boys too, that through it we would honor & glorify Jesus!!

Our house is officially FOR SALE!

Our house is officially listed! We would greatly appreciate you all sharing about it, to help us spread the word about our beautiful home. We sure will miss it when we move to Haiti and look forward to seeing which family gets to enjoy it next!
We would also GREATLY APPRECIATE your prayers in the coming days/weeks for a very quick sale of our home. Thank you all so much! We have SO much to do this summer to prepare for Haiti and not having to worry about our house would be wonderful!

We have lived here for 12 years and so we have brought all our babies home here and made a million memories together. We have had such wonderful times in this house and it will definitely be weird not living here anymore. We have loved our neighbors and neighborhood because it’s the best walking neighborhood and filled with parks within a few minutes each way. If you or anyone you know are looking for a house in the Mansfield area, be sure to send them this link.

3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bath, attic, basement, detached 1 car garage, sun room off of living room that we use for a toy room, fenced in back yard with beautiful sturdy hand built wooden swing set! Near Spanish Immersion school and boulevards.
